This boat was in service with the Arnold Transit Company from the early 1960's until the company ceased operations in 2016 after 138 years of service.
Bells Bay Sunset - Newfoundland CanadaDusk view from the top of a cliff along Conception Bay South near Topsail Beach Rotary Park, overlooking Kelly and Little Bell Islands. While visiting friends in St. Johns, we stopped here following one of the best fish and chip dinners I have ever eaten in one of the small towns along the bay. Our friends told us of an amazing spot that we could visit near a housing development on some cliffs. We parked our car off the street and walked a short distance to this view. A fine end to an amazing evening with good friends. If you ever have a chance to visit Newfound, Canada, do it. You will meet some of the finest people in the world there, and experience breathtaking scenery.

Known as "The Sunrise Side" of Michigan, towns along Lake Huron on the eastern side of the state enjoy some amazing sunrises. I had family in a couple of different towns along the coast for a number of years, and so was able to enjoy many beautiful mornings, both summer and winter. The colors, reflections and clouds seem to change with each sunrise, so you never know what to expect. Though many people prefer the western side along Lake Michigan, I think the "Sunrise Side", though certainly different, is also a very beautiful area to visit.
Beirstadt Lake - Rocky Mountain National Park ColoradoWe decided to take one last trek in Rocky Mountain National Park the morning of the day we were leaving for home, We chose the short hike to Bierstadt Lake because it fit our timeframe perfectly. When we awoke the next morning, we were surprised to find it had snowed overnight (this was September), and there was about four inches of light, fluffy snow covering everything. Not to be deterred, we drove to the trailhead, put on our packs and started out. It was grey and overcast when we left, but soon the clouds gave way to a classic sunny, blue sky Colorado morning. The views were amazing as you can see - the snow gave the landscape a completely different look than we had experienced the previous four days. I have three or four photographs I love from this amazing morning hike. As beautiful as they look, believe me when I say they (as with many landscape images) do not do the day/view/experience justice.

Lighthouse Dusk - Tawas, MichiganSunset photograph of the Tawas Point Lighthouse located near the northern entrance to Saginaw Bay, just off Tawas Bay in Lake Huron. The first lighthouse at this location (know then as Ottawa Point) was a put in service in 1853 as a rubble stone tower, with a cast iron light room and a fixed white light. The current tower was completed and began operation in 1877. This 67 foot brick and masonry structure experienced a number of modifications, upgrades and changes through the years and is still in operation today, using the original Fresnel Lens installed in first lighthouse (and subsequently moved to the new tower) in 1856. This is not only a interesting Great Lakes historical building, but also a great place to view amazing sunrises over Lake Huron and/or beautiful sunsets over Tawas Bay. Pay a visit if you are in the area.
